Greetings:
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s mission of “Service to All Mankind" began in 1908 in Washington, D.C. With over 260,000 members worldwide, Alpha Kappa Alpha continues to be at the forefront of positive change in American life. Since the Iota Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered in 1972, almost 40 years ago; it has carried forth this mission in the Syracuse, New York community.
The Iota Nu Omega Chapter has a rich history of fulfilling its mission through innovative programs, awareness, advocacy, action and collaborative partnerships. Through funding and volunteer hours, the Iota Nu Omega Chapter has implemented and supported such programs as the Dunbar Community Center Reading Program, Girl Scouts, working with female inmates at Jamesville Correctional Facility, participating in an annual day of service in honor of Martin Luther King’s birthday, conducting monthly workshops for women at the Chadwick Residence, sponsoring a Historically Black College and Career Day, supporting REACH CNY in their efforts to reduce infant mortality, yearly scholarships to college-bound senior female minority students and sponsoring an annual Community and Business Networking Fair.
